Lalbrew CBC-1 Bottle Conditioning Yeast
LalBrew CBC-1 as a homebrew yeast can be used to perform primary carbonation on craft beer, low sugar beer wort, or recarbonate poorly sealed kit beer which has not age deteriorated. Two requirements are to re-carbonate when brew is still fresh and use precision measurement when using this yeast.
LalBrew CBC-1 has been specially selected for its re-fermentation properties. As a homebrew yeast it does not produce flavour therefore conserving the original character of the beer during re-fermentation to carbonate your beer. Carbonates best if used with pure glucose monohydrate or Dextrose priming sugar but can be used with Sucrose or Light Dry malt.If your brew tastes sweet do not add extra sugar.
We suggest Lallemand's calculator is used to determine the yeast and brewing sugar quantity required for re-carbonating your homebrew. Select a CO2 value which best suits your beer from the table below to use in Lallemand's calculator.
Activate stated yeast quantity in ten times its stated size of clean water containing approximately 2% Dextrose for 15 minutes. eg; 2 grams of CBC-1 in 20ml sterile water with .5g dextrose for 15 minutes.
Suggested CO2 Volumes for carbonation:
English Style Ales | 1.5 - 2.0 | European Lagers |
2.2 - 2.7 |
English Stout/Porter | 1.7 - 2.3 | American Ales/Lagers |
2.2 - 2.7 |
Belgian Ales | 1.9 - 2.4 | Wild Yeast Beer |
2.4 - 2.8 |
Wheat Beer | 3.3 - 4.5 | Fruit Lambic Beer |
3.0 - 4.5 |
CBC-1 can also be used for primary fermentation. It is especially suitable for Champagne like beers and fruit beers as it is able to referment beer up to 12-14% ABV due to its high tolerance of alcohol and pressure. It can also be used to ferment ciders. The yeast flocculates to form a tight mat at the end of refermentation.
