These are a one piece vintage airlock suitable for a 10mm bore carboy grommet.

Your airlock allows CO² to escape during fermentation.

It becomes important at the end of wort fermentation when least CO² is being produced.

It protects your wort from atmospheric bacteria due to its water trap design.
